> Co-Parenting
Contact: Beth B. Street
Parenting Apart -- an educational program for divorcing parents. This program was mandated by the Tennessee State Legislature in January 2001. Classes are held each month in Carter County and surrounding counties.
 
> Anticipating Baby
Contact: Beth Street
Anticipating Baby is an eight-week course for pregnant mothers. The course covers labor and delivery, infant care, infant and child CPR, parenting, making your own baby food, communication and the cost of raising a child. The course is taught by a team from Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Carter County Health Department and the Carter and Unicoi Extension Service offices. The course is offered four times per year and the registration fee is $10.
 
> FCE (Family & Community Education)

Carter County has four FCE Clubs whose mission is education, leadership and community service. Clubs meet once a month in their local community.

FCE clubs are involved in many activities including Books for Newborns, recycling, Baby Quilts for Anticipating Baby, teaching crafts at the Elizabethton Senior Citizens Center plus many others.

Carter County is proud to have Betty McFarland currently serving as the State TAFCE President. She has attended the National NAFCE meeting for the last two years.

The state TAFCE meeting will be held this year in Gatlinburg in November.
