How do you raise chickens?
If you have never raised chicks before, don’t be afraid – give it a try! Attend our educational Chick Chain meeting to learn all about raising chicks, and you can pick up some FREE 4-H poultry information with several tips on how to raise chicks.
How do I sign up?
Talk to your parents and get their permission. Complete the Chick Chain order below. You will be notified by email to confirm your order, when to attend our educational meeting, and when to pick up your chicks.
By completing this form, you are agreeing to:
• Place your chick order with the Carter County 4-H Program for the 2025 Chick Chain.
• Pick up your chicks from the Carter County 4-H Office on the day the chicks are delivered. April 24th or 25th
• Feed, water, care for, and provide appropriate housing for the chicks (at the 4-H’ers expense) to the best of
your ability.
• Return 4 birds of your best female chickens and exhibit them in the 4-H Chick
Chain Show. The 4-H Chick Chain Show is held on a Saturday in early September.
• Your 4 birds will be auctioned after the show to the highest bidder. The money made from the chickens goes directly to you. The remaining chickens will be yours to keep.
• All 4-H’ers are REQUIRED TO SHOW & SALE THEIR BIRDS AT THE 4-H CHICK CHAIN SHOW!

• 12 Black Sex-linked (brown egg layer)
• 12 Red Sex-linked (brown egg layer)
